Service Not Seen

The three Arnett Brothers resting before having lunch served to them. Marvin on the left, Fred in the middle and Howard at the right. You can't see me because I was just outside of the picture peeling potatoes and getting the steaks ready to cook. I also had made a very nice green salad with boiled eggs. The eggs were donated by Zeta Bishop. They say the best service is silent service. That is why I don't talk much about my Cibola experiences.

I think it is Cliff leaning against the pickup. I had just finished loading the big tires on the truck by myself and was loading the other truck barely seen in the photo. If it was hard work, I was there. Did I mention that I was Cibola. No truck leaning for me. If I saw a job that needed to be done, I did it. If I saw a photo that needed uploaded, I did it. If I saw a guitar that needed burning, I left that job to the apprentice hippies, not shown in this post.

It's not a burning guitar, but it is the old Cibola Ferry. There was never any rush hour traffic. It took about 15-20 minutes each way to cross the Colorado.

I Am No Longer A Candidate For President of the USA

This is my public statement of intent to drop my candidacy for President of the United States. Because no presidential candidate since Teddy Roosevelt has run for the nation's highest office and sported a mustache at the same time, with the possible exception of Hillary Clinton, this photo symbolized my decision to drop out of the race. I will now devote most of my time to staightening and smoothing the kinks in said mustache.

If you missed the annual Arnett Christmas Eve celebration, you missed our special guest, Patricia, the Latina Talk Show Hostess from Mexico. She helped keep the party rolling. It was an especially poignant moment when she interviewed soon to be married Meghan Walker.

More Tanny Can Videos for Syd

Tanny Can left for Idaho this afternoon. We hated to see her go. Syd asked that we take some videos of her before she left. These two were shot on Sunday.

Showtime For Syd

Sydnee has been working in New York now for a couple of months. In that time she has seen the Broadway production of Wicked, a Mandy Moore concert, been to a Saturday Night Live performance and has tickets for the Conan O'Brien show.

Did I mention that the also went to Shea Stadium for Mormon Night with the Mets? I told her she also needs to take in a football game at West Point. It is one of the two three best venues ever for watching football. Who cares if the Cadets don't have a good team, the vistas watching the game with the Hudson river as a backdrop framed in the changing colors of Autumn is awesome.

Still with all that entertainment at her finger tips, she has continually bugged me to get her somoe video of her niece. So, here we go. It's the Canyon Rose show.

I had a chance to inspect my progeny up close and personal this past week. I was worried that they wouldn't be able to live up to their A.S.S expectations, but am relieved to say, they are on track for ASSdom.

Here are three pictures of Canyon Hardman and Penelope Mayberry to prove my point.

They will have one serious disadvantage to overcome because they won't have the privilege of being raised in Blythe, but I still think they can make it.

Best Buffet, Best Book, Best Movie and Best Haircut

Best Buffet in Las Vegas

I won't be posting for a few days because I am headed to Las Vegas for the AAU basketball tournaments. I will be watching and filming BYU prospects. Sitting on hard bleachers for 12 hours a day is not a vacation. Since I will be confined to high school gyms for the duration, that means the best buffet for me in Vegas will be at Foothill HS in Henderson. They have all I need to survive: Dr Pepper and Snickers Almond.

Best Book

If I do have a spare moment in my hotel room, it will be spent reading the latest Lee Child book, Bad Luck and Trouble. It features my favorite character, Jack Reacher. There isn't a sinister guy in the world that Reacher can't beat up, out smart or out think. Best of all, I like him because he travels the country with little money and without any luggage or change of clothes. When he needs new underwear, he just throws the old in the garbage and buys some new boxers.

I tried this mode of travel once during a previous tournament in Vegas. I didn't take a change of underwear and never had time to buy any new. Unlike Reacher, I never had to beat anybody up because nobody would ever sit by me.

Best Movie

I won't have time for watching movies, but you may. Here is my suggestioin for your viewing pleasure. Catherine Zeta-Jones has a new movie coming out later this month. It is called No Reservations. I don't know if it will be any good, but I do know it is a rip off and remake of one of my favorite flicks, Mostly Martha. This movie is a German film with English subtitles that came out in 2002. It's a little eclectic, but I liked it and thought it was very good. It is now available on DVD. If you are planning on seeing the new Zeta-Jones movie, I suggest you rent the original and best first.

Best Haircut

A guy can't go to Vegas without a good haircut. I had one yesterday at Studio 210 in Orem. I have included some before and after and in between shots. The haircut was so good I made an infomercial of it and told the girl that I was going to give her some free publicity on the blog. Her name is Alexis Arnett. She said I looked familiar and kept calling me dad.

Lex's Infomercial

As Lex's dad, I have taken it upon myself to build up her clientele. I have produced the infomercial below which I am going to post on my Cougar Sportsline blog. I am hoping that if they see the good job she did on my hair, my customers will be flocking to get their hair cuts from Lex. Here is the informorcial I plan on using. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Using The Family Fridge As An Index

Here is a snapshot of my refrigerator. Penee would be mortified if she knew I took this photo, but thankfully she is out of town waterskiing with her best friend Xanthe in Northern Idaho.

The purpose of this shot is to act as an index to the four newest videos I have posted below.

It goes from the top shelf to the bottom shelf.

At the top are most of the condiments and spices that give us the most flavor. I classified Christmas 1960 as the spiciest video because it includes Candy inflicting bodily harm to herself.

The second shelf represents the second video. Along with the shelf, this snippet contains many things I can't identify, but they all seem to pass the smell test, so I went ahead and added the video.

The third shelf is actually the meat keeper. I looked and it has a bunch of stale hotdogs. That pretty well describes any video that features the Arnett boys.

The fourth shelf is full of leftovers, some older than others. Hope you enjoy some of the family fotos of Grandma and Grandpa Clifford.

HOME AND HAMBURG...MISSIONS AND MEMORIES

Now seems like an appropriate time to go back in time and take a look at Meghan and Chad. Meghan will be home from her mission in Canada next Thursday. Lance and Candy are hoping they can clear their calendars and be at the airport to greet her. Yeah right! Let's just say that they have rented a trailer and are already camped at the airport parking lot.

Chad arrives in Provo the following week for his entrance into the MTC before heading to Hamburg. Jeff and Pam are coping with his leaving with Lamaze. We expect them to both exhale anyday now.
